Your Email Address is Now Your First Impression Opportunity.
By Stand-By Personnel Staff member
In an industry where email and electronic conveniences often rule the initial communication between applicant and employer, we've seen a lot of "usernames", or email addresses that leaves one to question, "What kind of person is this?"
Look, when you're emailing a resume to a potential employer, your username (email address) should be professional and nothing less. It's as important as how you dress or present yourself for the first time in person. Your email content and address is now the first impression. So, here are a couple of do's and don'ts:
Email examples of "Do's":
John.Smith@example.com
JohnD@example.com
JDoe@example.com
Are you seeing a pattern here? Image to the right is that of a responsible, professional, blue-collar worker.
Now, email examples of "Don'ts":
fancypants@example.com
gunning4fun@example.com
PartyDude4ever@example.com
hunterextreme@example.com
dancergirl86@example.com
fun2drink@example.com
Image to the right, not so much in the positive.
If you don't have a professional email for job seeking only, then create one...it only takes a second. And remember, first impressions are everything.

Your email address will describe
who you are to your future employers...
is that what you REALLY want?
